Let’s face it – packing is a pain. It’s easier to unpack than pack. If you are a frequent traveller, then you’re very familiar with the anxiety associated with packing and unpacking. While unpacking of clothes is not that bad because you mostly have to put your clothes in the laundry, packing can be very stressful.

Packing clothes is tedious and time-consuming. Additionally, it is difficult to tell what to pack and what to leave behind. And even when we pick out the essentials, there is always this feeling of forgetting things behind when we really aren’t. Or you could be unfortunate to forget an essential item that’s been constantly in your mental travel items checklist.

To save you the hassle, Avrum Travel Logistics & Hospitality Limited  brings you super quick steps that won’t let you procrastinate before packing.

Step 1

Most of us are guilty of leaving packing for the last minute.

Solution: Stop leaving things for tomorrow and take out the bags that you want to carry for your trip. Always remember that you have to travel light no matter what. Another thing to keep in mind is the size of the bag that is allowed in the flight you are taking. Essentially, you should carry one suitcase and one handbag if you are travelling for more than ten days; else, one handbag is more than enough. Carrying excess luggage can be very stressful!

Step 2

Make a list of the things you need to carry with yourself.

Solution: To make packing your suitcase easy, think about the products you start using from morning to night and jot them down (if you are forgetful). Once you have noted all the things you need to pack, start taking them out and put them all at one place. You could just clean one shelf in your cupboard and place everything there. Take out the clothes that you want to carry with you. Check if they need to be washed or dry-cleaned. Put them aside if you need to get them ironed. This way, you will not forget anything.

Step 3

Most of the things you have to carry in your luggage will be available at home. As for the things that aren’t available at home, make another shopping list noting the things you need to buy. Don’t stop there. Step out and get those things and put them in the same place where you placed your shaving kit, clothes and accessories.

Step 4

The only thing that is left now is to place all your stuff in the luggage. You have to place everything in a way that you use the space in an optimum way. Roll the clothes so that they don’t get crushed. Place your shower gel and creams on one side and clothes in the other section. That way, nothing gets spoilt and everything fits in one bag.

Bonus Travel Tips:

1). Pack clothing using the “roll” technique. Place two or three items on top of one another, smooth to flatten, and roll them up like you would a sleeping bag to save space and avoid wrinkles. For insurance, place a sheet of heavy tissue or packing paper between items of clothing before rolling to avoid wrinkles.

2). Place breakable items, like jewelry or glass, wrapped in socks and tucked into shoes inside your luggage. This ensures ultimate safety.

3). Place heavy items at the bottom of your bag, especially if it is an upright model.

4). If you will be going through customs, check your luggage before packing. Ensure that it is completely empty (especially if the luggage is not yours), because as soon as you’re in security check, no one is responsible for its contents but you. Usually, suitcases have hidden zippers along the center or side. Open them and give it a good once-over. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Finally, as you pack your luggage, check items off your list. Be thorough; you don’t want to want to go through the stress of dismantling your entire bag in a panic to find out whether you’ve taken the time to pack something.

Voila!! Have a safe trip!
